A High Velocity Lube-Oil Flushing Procedure was introduced during the mid 1960's by a major turbine manufacturer who recommended it to its' client/owners as a superior methodology for cleaning MHC, Bearing and Seal-Oil Supply and Drain Piping.

As an employee of a public utility in 1973, our Principal was assigned the task of aquiring the proper Equipment and implementing the OEM Procedure on a 750 MW Super-Critical Turbine Generator.

The Project was sucessfully completed in accordance with the OEM Procedure, however, our Principal noted several areas in which improvement could be made to achieve a higher level of efficiency.

To accomplish his desired improvements he implemented  the following:

  • Replace the OEM specified Pumping Unit with one of Higher Velocity and Volume
  • Addition of a Full-Flow, low micronic Filtration System upstream of entry into the permanent lube oil piping system
  • Addition of an Electric lube oil Heating System for Thermal Shocking Cycles
  • Addition of Full-Flow, low micronic Filtration System at each supply to drain Jumper
  • Use of Stainless Steel Flexible Hose in place of OEM specified "pickled pipe" for interconnection of the flushing system to the permanant piping system
  • An improved Flushing Procedure including "Rapid Thermal Shock" (RTS) Cycles for removal of adhered particulate contamination

This improved High Velocity Lube Oil Flushing Procedure and more effective Equipment resulted in some turbine OEM's requirement of a higher ISO Standard of Cleanliness than originally specified.

After 35 years, through business evolution, EHC Field Services, Inc. is the recipient of his experience and continued technical innovation in the field he pioneered.

Our Mission Statement:

"EHC Field Services, Inc. shall endeavor to improve the integrity of the Power Generation Turbine Generator through a program of improvement, utilizing an innovative methodology to increase reliability of the Control, Lubrication and Generator Sealing System."
